sibling outing

doughballs and an Americano pizza from Pizza Express (and the smile that came with them)

"and we'll never be royals"
 topsy turvy
So I mentioned in this outfit post not too long ago that I dragged my little brother to Madame Tussauds with me and fortunately, it turned out to be a great day. Neither of us had visited before so it was great to 'chill with the stars', take some fun photos and have an (essential) meal at Pizza Express. In order to save money we split an Americano pizza, giving us remaining change to spend on their famous doughballs. I could write entire posts essays about the doughballs there but I think I would fall into an endless, vicious cycle of wanting them so badly that I would become upset, hungry and unsatisfied. They're just that good.

Oh and here's to one of my first delves into lifestyle blogging, I loved writing the V&A post the other day and I feel like my blog is definitely evolving from having beauty as my secondary focus to lifestyle. I still write beauty post though, don't you worry - you can read my contributions to London Beauty Queen here. That's not to say I'll write off the idea of ever writing beauty posts on here again; woah, that would be too drastic...but I save the big guns for LBQ.

P.S - yes I am  completely aware that I have a strange brother. If any of you (for any reason) are wondering - his name is Keir (pronounced Kee-yah, my family have unusual names), he's 13 and utterly obsessed with Minecraft :)

the sunday review 01

I've been toying with the idea of writing a weekly feature for a while now, and Sunday Summary posts are one of my favourite types of post to read. It's a combination of me being both a) a little bit nosey (aren't we all?) and b) really interested on 'the person behind the blog'. It pains me when I stumble upon a new blog to find that it doesn't have an 'about me' section. I love your clothes and all, but all my brain is wanting to know is where you're based / a brief synopsis of your life story. Am I alone on that point?!

So the highlight of my week was undoubtedly being accepted on to #AccessAllAsos. I'm a massive fan of the brand - their petite section is brilliant and the fact that they sell a UK size 4 has saved me so many times. I'm so excited to see where this opportunity will take me, and I'm ecstatic that it is a fab excuse to see some of my blogger friends again (including my two fellow teenage bloggers Sophie & Perdi). I instagrammed a picture of the hand-written card I received in the mail yesterday and I loved the personal touch - ASOS, I salute you.

Sixth form has been rather up and down this past week, I feel like I'm trying really hard in one of my subjects and none of it is paying off and my grade is nowhere near the region I'd like it to be in, which is frustrating to say the least. Saying that, I'm feeling motivated at the moment rather than brought down by it all, so I'm just sticking to the idea that perseverance is what is going to get me through this hell of an essay and then I can smile and move on. This week also taught me to stick by people when they really need you, even when they don't act like it. I'm a believer that sticking by people when they need you the most is without doubt the way to go.

I also found out at the beginning of this week (or it could have been the end of last week? - not too long ago...) that my trip to Asia & Australasia this summer has been confirmed and booked and OH MY GOSH seriously hold me down. I am so excited. And not in just the smiling-yay-this-is-cool sort of way but in the my-level-of-excitement-is-on-the-verge-of-escaping-every-inch-of-my-body sort of way. I'm going to write a post about travelling soon so until then I'll keep the exact details under wraps. I've got a lot to look forward to, so I'm very thankful for that. July 22nd could not come quick enough if it tried! I've got a trip to Wales in March with school and one of my biannual trips to Scotland with my family in April before I'm Heathrow bound, but I know for certain that the wait will be worthwhile

If you've written a Sunday Summary-style post or a weekly review, please link me up! As I mentioned earlier, I love reading them.

Also - before I go...HAPPY STRALYA DAY to my favourite nation on the planet and every single person from there or who is celebrating it today. I am incredibly proud to be half Aussie and hopefully (if it all goes to plan) I will be holding dual citizenship between Britain and Australia in a few months time!

looking for reasons I can't find

paisley blouse miss selfridge / black cardigan la redoute / berry satchel internacionale / dark grey acid wash 'Ridley' jeans asos / berry snood primark / nails: barry m peach melba

This paisley blouse has been my first high street bargain of 2014. A few months ago I saw it in it's new-in glory, fresh and wonderful yet a disappointing £25. Don't get me wrong - that in itself is a bargain for some, but I'm a sixth former. I (unfortunately) don't have money leaking out from my ears. So I waited. Waited for it to be reduced, hopefully by a notable chunk or as a last resort I would grab it with my 25% Arcadia employee discount. Even at £18.75 I still felt it was a little steep - it's essentially a short sleeved blouse made of polyester...I live in London...you work it out. It didn't promise to keep me warm for the 8/9 months of the year when the weather isn't all that fab. So the other day I trawled on the Miss Selfridge website (daily online musings, really) and found this on sale for £12. Perfect! Oh, and MS wonderfully had an extra 10% off when you checkout. So I took it to the next level, being a little cheeky I guess..and a bit hopeful. I entered in my NUS code et voilà- £8.64.

And that, ladies (and gentlemen), is how you find yourself a bargain. Patience is a virtue. NUS cards are absolute godsends if you're a student - it's arguably the best £12 I've spent in the past year. And may I just say, for berry-tinged paisley, the wait was worth it.

a day at the V&A: London fashion in the 80's

At the beginning of the month, before starting back at sixth form, Mum and I ventured into Central London and visited my favourite museum, The V&A. The Victoria & Albert museum has always been iconic and is a real treat for the fashion-obsessed, as well as those interested in ancient or Asian art. I've been a big fan of the place since Mum took me to see the exhibition of Kylie Minogue's dresses, and that must have been around 7-8 years ago now?! I was obsessed with Neighbours at the time, which made seeing Charlene's costume seriously exciting.

So anyway - we went to see the Club to Catwalk: London Fashion in the 1980s exhibition and loved it - the write-ups next to the pieces were fab and obviously, the clothing pieces were the stars of the show. I'd massively recommend you go and visit if you have a spare couple of hours and you're in London, that way you can go at a comfortable pace whilst browsing along the brightly coloured and oversized items that grab your attention for more reasons than one.

The exhibition is open until February 16th, with tickets costing £5. Online information can be found here!

Have you seen this exhibition?

but they're just afraid of something they can't understand

check dip him dress topshop / black biker jacket miss selfridge / black chelsea boots topshop (link) / textured shoulder bag primark / silver spike necklace river island / nails: barry m matte caramel

I've been wearing a lot of this biker jacket & textured bag combo as of late; it's my go-to jacket and my favourite bag - just big enough to fit my DSLR in and shove my oyster card in the front section. When I think about it, this outfit is compiled of a dress, jacket and bag that I got on sale and shoes that I got for £12 off using my Arcadia employee discount card. Nothing beats a fab bargain in my eyes. However, saying that...when it comes to tidying up my floordrobe it never ends happily. My clothes have this magical ability to get anywhere and everywhere with absolutely no effort on my front - it's rather confusing stuff.

Hmm, I'm feeling rather uninspired literary-wise today. I think it's time for a nap/well-needed dose of Teen Wolf. I'll be back with some hopefully more interesting things to write soon :)

lush-ious relaxation

the beautiful rose colour the water turned into
currently reading: Looking for Alaska by John Green
I'm a shower sorta girl through and through, so when I occasionally dip into bath waters I make sure it has optimum relaxation qualities. A bath bomb by Lush (of course) is essential...I love the scents they give off, as well as well as the gorgeous colours and the cute little bubbles. My most recent weapon of choice was Lush's 'So White', a beautiful white sweet apple-scented bath bomb which unfortunately is limited edition and is only available during the festive season. Argh! In my opinion a book should always accompany you in the bath, and the book I'm currently reading is Looking for Alaska by John Green. I shared on my Instagram a photo of my recent John Green spree from WHSmith and wow, I'm seriously impressed. John Green has got an insanely clever way of writing brilliant and engaging storylines whilst ripping your heart out at the same time, giving you that post-ending sadness because it hits you that the book has finished. The harsh reality of life, eh.

know with all of your heart, you can't shame me

denim shirt rokit / black jeans pull & bear / oversized tweed blazer charity shop / cobalt scarf h&m / textured shoulder bag primark / chelsea boots topshop (link)

Location: Marylebone Road, London.

So today I forced asked my brother if he would hop along with me to Central London to go to Madame Tussauds, seeing as we've never been (which, quite frankly for me is pretty shameful, having lived here over fourteen years now). Needless to say we loved it - it was a brilliant excuse to get up close and personal with the likes of Becks and Obama. 129 photographs later and our tummies calling for Pizza Express, I enlisted Keir's help to take a few photos for me. I don't think he did a half bad job at all - so Keir if you're reading this (I doubt you will be) - cheers mate, I love you. Blogger forces brother to not only come and be a tourist in our home city but also take blog photos?!...I must be rather horrid.

p.s - because I want my blog to evolve with me and not be so restricted in terms of the type of content I publish I want to share with you these two videos. Since stumbling on this link off BuzzFeed I've fallen in love with watching videos of figure skating. So here are two incredible skaters: Jason Brown and Gracie Gold. I've watched these two videos a total of nine times in the past few days and not only have they made me cry (happy tears), they have sparked a surprising love of Riverdance. I didn't see that one coming.

ModCloth uniquely you

the grand tour guide top in ivory / everyday adventure jeans / out to luncheon bootie / modern lit lecturer blazer in grey / fig day ahead bag / dressed to empress necklace / wrap time watch in black

So ModCloth recently got in contact with me, telling me about their Uniquely You campaign. They've got some fashion bloggers involved in creating an outfit collage revolving around a nominated clothing item as part of a competition - this time it was the ivory blouse. The winner gets their collage displayed on ModCloth's Polyvore page...so hey, that's pretty cool. So here it is! I realise the vibes I'm going for are quite smart/casual, a little equestrian with the injection of tweed yet me nonetheless; skinny jeans and a berry-tinged bag? Perfection.

What are your thoughts on my outfit collage? I'd love to know.
