so just give it one more try to a lullaby

bandeau (worn underneath) - new look
dress - primark
sandals - clarks
earrings - accessorize

Here's one of my outfits from last week's heatwave, which I must say I took advantage of clothes-wise. The dress was a bargainous £6 and I love it, despite how the weather is never good enough to wear it! I'm setting myself a mental goal on styling it for the autumn and more prominent English months. The sandals I mentioned a couple of posts back in a recent haul, and oh my they are so painful! Definitely a good idea to break into them before I go to Majorca, but woah they were agony! I went to a local town with my mum and brother, and by the end of the day (after not that much walking) I was limping, staggering and all that. Took them off to find they'd taken out a small chunk out of the back of both heels and almost bled, despite me using seven or so bandaids to help prevent this. However, more positively they are beautiful, and I am willing to work to 'earn' them.

the title is taken from this song, which I am obsessed with!

summer - daily want #5

Firstly, I'm sorry these haven't really turned out to be everyday, I realised that I go through phases of not wanting much to liking anything and everything on ebay that ever existed, making it confusing on what to upload. Anyway, today I have been really lusting over this nail polish, one that I've seen quite a bit of recently. I think it looks gorgeous! I haven't dived into the rose gold trend as of yet, as I'm strictly a silver girl but this can be an exception. Subtle yet definitely on-trend. Saying this, £6 for a nail polish in my opinion is well, mmmm. I hate spending more than £4 on them, yet haven't found any dupes so I may just have to resort to purchasing my own copy!

blouse - new look
shorts - h&m, diy
plimsolls - primark
hair doughnut - primark
earrings - claire's
nail polish: barry m berry ice cream

Here's the outfit I wore last week to the Olympic Torch Relay. I'm in love with the blouse, mentioned in a recent haul. It's the perfect size (12 from the teens section), I'm extatic that they stock it in both the adult and teen sections, as after trying on the adult size 8 I was swamped! I wish the weather was nice and summery more often, I adore wearing cutoff denim shorts and wish I could justify purchasing and diy-ing more pairs! Currently I have 3 pairs of denim shorts, all of a different shade and that right now seems reasonable for London.

Who else is devastated for Tom Daley and Pete Waterfield? I admittedly have had a crush on Tom since I was eleven (who hasn't) and saw the pair dive in the Diving World Cup in February. Back then they also messed up a dive badly, finishing seventh. I really hoped that wouldn't be the case for the Olympics as well, but fourth is still a reasonable result.

the title is from this song, although the remix is my favourite! Heard it a few times before but now it's one played a lot on the olympic coverage I'm obsessed!

olympic fever

top - h&m
high-waisted shorts - new look
plimsolls - primark
necklace - gifted
earrings - claire's
nails - la colours wired & revlon radiant

Olympic fever has finally hit my home city of London! I'm incredibly excited, although not a sporty person I love the Olympics, so find it amazing to watch and proudly support team GB. Shops have gone crazy patriotic with clothing - I now have a shirt on it with 'London' printed on it, for a bargainous £4.99 from h&m. The earrings were around £3/4 and are unique apple-shaped union jacks, perfect for when I go and see the water polo with my family! Expect some photos, but no knowledge on the sport whatsoever. As for the nails it was my first time trying out this blue combination, one I really like! It lasted three days with a base + top coat which is longer than usual for me, especially as I enjoy regularly changing my nails up. I finally bought technic's rainbow connection dupe which I've seen one a gazillion blogs, late on the bandwagon I know but who doesn't want a beautiful glittery nail polish to add to their collection?

recent purchases

jewellry: necklace and woven earrings - accessorize
union jack, trio of spheres & moustache earrings - claires
black studded bag - primark
jade strappy sandals - clarks
black slip-on sandals - primark
babyliss hairdryer - argos
grey beaded cross tee - primark
hair doughnut - primark
casio silver mini watch - asos

Here's a few things I've bought recently! Summer sales have been fabulous as per usual, and my eye for fashion has been awakened now that school's over for the summer. Accessorize especially had fab deals on, my favourite being their 70% reductions. Claire's also had a 3 for 2 deal on earrings, so naturally three pairs had to be purchased. However, I'm disappointed as the sterling silver moustache earrings have broken after one wear, with the post unattaching completely. The studded bag shall be used for school come September, but for now I'm going to happily show off this £9 beauty! Mum spotted it and I loved it instantly - also coming in a nude colour, yet the black is more edgy and punky in my opinion. We spent a while in Clarks trying on some of their sale shoes, and I left with a pair of strappy, jade coloured sandals. They are very supportive and I think are genuine leather, or perhaps the strong and sturdy faux material, I'm unsure. They're going to need some breaking into to become comfortable, but it's definitely worth it. Just about the same applies for my £4 primark slip-on plimsolls, practically disposable but comfortable and great for the summer. Will probably pick up a navy and white pair at this rate - snug, comfortable and they stay on really well! Very, very happy.

I finally purchased a new hairdryer, and this one was a bargain at £11.99 from Argos. After I use it more I may just have to dedicate a post to it. The cross tee is so summery, lightweight and has pretty beading..what more could you want? Also, they attached many spare beads in case any fall off, a godsend as I'm forever breaking things, yet not having the equipment to fix them with. As for the hair doughnut, I'm sorry I don't have a picture of it out of my hair, but since I bought it for £1 it has been in my hair non-stop! I love experimenting ways of using it, and seeing how well it suits this lovely summery heat in London. Lastly there's the watch, one that I've been wanting for a while. I've had to adjust it considerably to fit my awkwardly small wrists, but now that it fits I love it. Small, practical and stylish. Once again, I'm very happy.

summer - daily want #4

Everyone can agree on how a full-length mirror is an essential. I have gone years without one, infact my entire life. I've been looking out for a decent length, priced and styled one for a while now, and today I finally found this one. It's white, the colour scheme of furniture in my room (or by the end of summer for sure, I plan to paint my chest of drawers.) £19.99 is such a good price, many others exceed £50 and quite frankly, reason. It doesn't need to be ridiculously tall, as I am a shortie at 5'1, so 122cm seems perfectly reasonable. 'Tis fate, non?

p.s - today I finally got my hands on Sleek's Rose Gold Blush! After around eighteen months of not being able to find it in any Superdrug stores I picked the last one up! Very very happy, expect a post on it during the upcoming month.

simple spotless skin range

I'm a teenager, who struggles with spots and blemishes. Yeah, I said it. Over the past year or so my skin has shown signs of worsening, becoming more oily and way more blemish-prone. I know it's impossible to completely combat this: teenage skin doesn't simply go away, nor can it be ignored. I've tried a large range of skincare products, all giving individual promises on 'clearing skin' and 'removing blemishes.' During this time the brands I've gone through are Witch, Tesco, Johnsons (who's gel face wash is amazing), Lush, St Ives, Clean and Clear, Neutrogena, Bourjois and specific spot-related brands such as Clearasil.
I purchased the entire range of Simple's new 'spotless skin' products, which were surprisingly good value. I managed to get the moisturiser for free, using points off my Boots card, though it often retails for £4.99. Whilst at Tesco with my Mum a few days later I noticed they were on buy one get one free, so the face wash and spot zapper were mine for a fiver.

The face wash is brilliant. Soft and scentless like all simple products, which prevents any break-outs or allergic reactions with sensitive skin. However, unexpectedly it contains small particles, rough enough to smoothly exfoliate, yet soft enough that it doesn't feel sore or sharp when applying to the face. It really makes my skin feel clean and soft even before moisturising.

I've never really taken moisturisers that seriously in the past. My skin isn't that dry, so for a long time I didn't consider it to be an essential part of my skincare routine. However, this has changed my mind. Although in a small bottle, a little goes a long way, and especially when applied straight after toner (mine's Eau Roma Water from Lush). My skin feels very hydrated, yet not caked or completely covered.

Spot removal treatments are generally the products I find most difficult. I've tried around five now, all of which have disappointed me in someway or the other (although I have to note Witch's spot stick, which is pretty good despite the inconvenient packaging). This one doesn't require your fingers to apply, therefore avoiding the risk of transferring bacteria from your hands and onto blemish-prone areas, only worsening the problem. Everyday after I do my skincare routine I gently glide this over my spots, on my forehead and sometimes my cheeks or chin. As for performance I feel it works reasonably well, better than others I've tried. The application is really nice, and although not completely removing spots, it does help prevent further break-out.

Have you tried the spotless skin range? I definitely recommend you do!

summer - daily want #3

Today I realised something tragic. The absolute beauty of a clutch that I posted a mere two days ago has gone out of stock. The past couple days have seen me trying to find time to order it but not quite getting round to it, surely this will teach me for the future.
I have a wedding coming up in three weeks in Cardiff, which I'm so excited for! I've never been to Wales so a new place is a valuable experience in my eyes. Anyway- my dress is waterfall in style and of a bright turquoise, chiffon-y material. I need a clutch to 'spice' things up, completing the outfit. The studs undoubtedly would have been the perfect smart/stylish edge but oh well. If any of you do find a dupe (I've tried) please do notify me! (repayed in eternal love, of course.)
Whilst on my usual online ponderings I found this clutch. Completely different to the studded one shown on Sunday, it is black with a navy-ish blue glitter coating, perfect for going with my turquoise dress! The wristlet style is small and cute, yet spacious enough to fit the essentials. Have I found the one?! £8 from Dorothy Perkins is a bargain also..one that I may just have to take advantage of.
Will you help me settle my clutch issues, once and for all?

olympic torch relay!

Today my mum, brother and I woke up at the ungodly hour of 7am during the summer holidays to go see the olympic flame finally come to a town near where we live. I took the opportunity to take loads of photos, because as many have said, it's the only time the Olympics will be held in London during my lifetime. I'm not sure if everyone has succumbed to the olympic fever, but I sure have! My brother, aunt, cousin and I are going to see the water polo on August 1st, so expect some photos from then! I really should start wikipedia-searching all the details to do with water polo, I know no rules or anything! Anyway, here's the photos from today...

Have you been to see the torch relay?

summer - daily want #2

Today has been a lovely day. a 'heatwave' has hit London, with temperatures of a beautiful 28 degrees. This leaves me, and many others in my local area incredibly happy. You see, whenever England gets the odd bit of sun, our smiles all come out. Mum & I went shopping today & lots of thing were purchased, including a few I've been wanting a while. Look forward to a haul post soon! Anyway, today's daily want is the best dupe I've seen on American Apparel's best selling disco pants. Everyone wants them, looks great in them except our wallets. At £70 they are continents away from realistic trouser price so a dupe is what seems like the best alternative. I've seen a couple others, such as the ones here, but websites mainly do shiny leggings, and label them as 'disco pants'. As you all know, the disco pants are famous for them being thick, tight trousers with the almost metallic sheen. These beauties are 3/7ths of the price of the originals, yet almost look identical. This, leads to a very, very happy Thalia.

black disco pants - Glamorous - £29.99

What do you think of disco pants - do you have a pair or a dupe and what are your thoughts on them? I'd love to know.

summer - daily want #1

I've seen these posts on a few blogs, and find them way more interesting than the usual 5-or-so piece wishlist! I know I'm not the only one that finds numerous things online every day that I lust over, so I plan to do one of these every day throughout summer.
This clutch is gorgeous! It reminds me so much of the Alexander Wang Rocco, or the ebay version of the bag everyone has. I've been wanting it for a while, but can't justify £30 on it quite just yet. Anyway, I saw this bag on moreemilk's latest video and immediately needed it. It's a great size, isn't too big yet still has the highly-coveted studding detail. The wristlet strap is convenient and looks great for holding the essentials - phone, keys, oyster card, tissues and lip balm. It comes at a bargain of £8 from Select, which unfortunately charges a ridiculous £4 for postage. Oh well, £12 is still a fab deal and I cannot wait to get my hands on this. Will be purchasing this later today!

Julie's questions & my answers
1.If you could only use one makeup product for the rest of you life, what would it be? It would have to be my new favourite product, Avon superCurlacious mascara (blog post on it soon!)
2. What is your dream job? Kind of already mentioned this earlier, oops! It would have to be as a fashion journalist!
3. What is your favorite makeup Brand? I use a mix of everything to be honest, there's no brand I favourite but I would have to say that I shop from Rimmel a lot.
4. What is the best concealer you have found? (I need a good one!) Either Collection (2000)'s Lasting Perfection (amazing coverage) or Witch's blemish stick (is reasonably good for belmishes and not breaking you out)
5. What are some of your hobbies? Other than blogging, I love trampolining! I go for an hour once a week and am now working towards award 11.
6. Chapstick, Lip Stick, Lip Gloss, or Bare Lips? Chapstick! I adore lip balms, especially Nivea's Milk and Honey.
7. What is your favorite movie? I bet everyone says this but Mean Girl! It's hilarious and incredibly quote-able.
8. What is your newest obsession? Gossip Girl! I'm about 5 years late on the bandwagon but now I'd say I'm old enough to understand and enjoy the storylines, unlike the 10-year old self I was when the first series came out in 2007. I started watching it about 2 weeks ago and am already half way through series 2.
9. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Only 1- really?! Probably my height, I've never been a fan of being a 'midget' at my unsuccessful 5'1.
10. What is your favorite book? The perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbowsky
11. What is your best makeup trick or tip? I don't really have any! My tips would be to have a really good skincare routine that suits you, and to never wear too much makeup. Let your skin breathe!

Bethanie's questions & my answers
1. Who is you're favourite character from Friends? Phoebe!
2. If you could marry a celebrity, who would it be and why? Cody Simpson! Cause he's the same age as me, has a gorgeous accent etc but if I was older, Ian Harding from Pretty Little Liars.
3. What do you do to make yourself feel better when you're down? Watch my favourite programmes, listen to my absolute favourite band, Paramore or read fashion magazines.
4. Which do you prefer, long or short hair? Long! I've had long hair ever since I first grew it, as does everyone else in my family (including my 11-year old brother and dad, who both have ponytails!)
5. Have you ever been in love? No
6. What is your favourite Ben & Jerry's flavour and why? Chocolate Fudge Brownie, it's delicious!
7. If you wanted to, would you change your life and what would you change and why? No, I really don't mind my life right now! I adore my family and love being off school (who doesn't..) and love living in London.
8. What would be the best career to have? Journalism, specialising in fashion. I would love to work in Comapny magazine, or Glamour as a features writer.
9. What snack can you not stop eating once you've had one? Maltesers, rich tea biscuits, malted milks, custard creams, celebrations (you can really tell how healthy I am)
10. What is your favourite accessory? Cringey as it sounds, a smile! I don't wear jewellry all that much, and if I do it's often a pair of small stud earrings. A smile makes anyone beautiful in their own way.
11. What makes you blog? My love for fashion, beauty and writing. Finding products or clothes that I love and wanting to share it with others. I also love reading blogs, and many other bloggers inspire me.

My questions!
  1. How many places have you visited worldwide?
  2. If you could work in the industry associated with the products mentioned in your blog (in my case, fashion and beauty), would you?
  3. What are your five all-time favourite nail polishes? (I'm constantly on the hunt for new ones)
  4. Mascara or eyeliner?
  5. What subjects did you study at school? (option choices, not compulsory subjects)
  6. Are you excited for the London 2012 Olympics?

  9. Do you speak any other languages other than English?
  10. What is your favourite thing about blogging, and what motivates you?
  11. What makeup brand did you wish you could buy from but they don't stock in your country?
I tag...

could only think of 9- sorry!

Hope you read their blogs & like them as much as I do. Thank you Julie & Bethanie for tagging me :) Sorry about the text-heavy post by the way, now I've finished school for the summer I have way more spare time to blog :)
